So yesterday we were doing marbling with Humbrol enamel paints and water. It was a really easy technique, just put about 2" of water into a large flat bottomed bowl or tray (litter trays are ideal) then flick on enamel paint (you have to make sure you stir it very well first or you end up with an oily scum on the water) and swish round with a cocktail stick or similar. The effect is just like petrol on a puddle, lovely iridescent colours. I used a mixture of gold, silver, bronze, copper and white paints. Once you've achieved a lovely "petrolly type puddle, you put a piece of fabric onto the top of it and let it sit on the paint and water mixture, then lift it off and hey presto, fabulous patterns on your fabric. The hardest thing to do now is deciding what to make with all this wonderful fabric.

Enamel Marbling
Well I had a really fun day yesterday, when I went to an experimental group locally (it's very exclusive, there are only 4 of us...ha.ha...) and we just let our imagination run wild with anything to do with fabric, threads, paint, dye, etc. etc.
So yesterday we were doing marbling with Humbrol enamel paints and water. So now I'm off for a bit of a play, just lots of cutting and sewing and hopefully at the end something nice will appear....here's hoping anyway.
